My baby massage classes bring these 3 things in abundance. Each class is an opportunity to feel and teach love, to build and develop connections and to nurture each other. Massage really helps to promote bonding and strong emotional attachments. You are your baby’s very first teacher, and through gentle massage, you can teach your baby love, trust security and respect. Connecting with your baby regularly using positive touch, eye contact, talking and singing is so important for bonding and nurturing your baby, but it’s equally important for you as a new parent to have the opportunity to connect with other parents. When your baby is born, a new version of you as a mummy is born too, so being part of a “village” of other supportive and nurturing mums makes such a difference. Becoming a parent can be the most amazing, life changing experience, but it can also be tough adapting to life with a newborn. Sleep deprivation and a lack of time for yourself can leave many new parents feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. I understand how important it is to have a support network of mums to chat to, to connect with, and to remind each other what an amazing job we’re doing. I also recognise how much it can mean having the opportunity to slow down and take a few moments for yourself, and to have a hot cuppa and biscuit! This is exactly the safe, caring, supportive, non-judgmental, nurturing environment I aim to create in my classes.
Massage is a beautiful and special gift you can share with your baby. It has been used for centuries in many different cultures and it can have positive effects on all systems of the body, and it promotes relaxation. During baby massage, the muscles and soft tissues of the body are manipulated in order to relieve common symptoms, release tension from growing muscles, soothe and calm baby, reduce stress and improve wellbeing. Touch is a baby’s most developed sense at birth, and babies crave skin-to-skin contact. Gentle massage provides babies with this positive touch they crave.

Enjoy chatting to other parents and take some time out of a hectic world, to slow down, relax and unwind.
There are many benefits of baby massage, for both your baby and you. Nurturing touch is so important for baby’s development, and massage can help to ease the transition from womb to the outside world. The main benefits can be split into 4 categories:
Baby massage can be extremely effective in offering relief from a variety of common symptoms such as trapped wind, colic, constipation, congestion, blocked sinuses, teething pain and muscle pain.
Massaging your baby releases tension and promotes relaxation. It encourages the release of oxytocin and reduces stress levels, lowering blood pressure and the heart rate. Some babies also feed and sleep better after massage.
Your baby is born with immature bodily systems. Massage stimulates and supports your baby’s bodily systems, including the nervous system, the digestive system, the respiratory system, the lymphatic system, the musculoskeletal system and the circulatory system.
Baby massage helps to develop a strong attachment between you and your baby through eye contact, singing and talking, the exchange of smell and the power of positive touch. Massage enhances communication by encouraging you to listen to and respond to your baby’s needs, and it promotes the release of oxytocin which is known as the “love hormone”, responsible for promoting feelings of nurturing and love. A strong bond between parent and baby has been shown to enhance the emotional and social development of babies, and having a secure attachment also helps babies to become independent and explore the world with confidence as they grow.
